What is Plasma?

Plasma technology is a non-invasive treatment that works by ionising gases to convert it to the 4th state of matter, (the first 3 being solids, liquids + gas). Matter achieves this state when you supply enough energy to split atoms into electrons. The result is a cloud of free, negatively charged electrons and positively charged ions, radicals, and molecules. This cloud that consists of charged particles is called Plasma.

What is Plasma Fibroblast?

Plasma Fibroblast is an amazingly simple yet revolutionary skin tightening treatment that tightens and lifts the skin with instant results, offering an alternative to invasive surgical procedures. Plasma Fibroblast is a highly effective non-invasive, non-surgical treatment with minimum pain, healing, and recovery time. Plasma is a fantastic solution for clients who do not want invasive surgery but are wanting long-lasting outstanding results. Plasma is a low risk treatment to reduce the volume of excess skin, significantly tightens, lifts, resurfaces, and regenerates practically any area of the skin. A natural alternative to Botox and fillers and surgery.

How does it work?

The plasma pen is non-invasive treatment using a small metal probe to ionize atmospheric gas, producing a tiny plasma arc between the device tip and the client’s skin. This creates a controlled dermal wound. This minute trauma initiates the body’s natural healing response causing the skin to contract. In turn tightening and lifting the skin whilst simultaneously disrupting the deeper dermal structure via thermal conduction. The tissue reaction gives results that are comparable to invasive surgery.

What can it treat?

Non-surgical blepharoplasty (excess upper eyelid skin)

Under eye bags / excess skin

Forehead lines

Brow lift

Crows feet

Nasolabial

Marionette and Accordion lines

Smokers lines

Lip flip (fuller upper lip)

Neck lift/tightening

Stomach (tightening loose skin after pregnancy)

Stretch marks

Scarring (post-surgery and acne scar)

Skin imperfections – skin tags, seborrheic keratosis, milia, pigmentation and age spots

Treatment plans are available, if you do not see your area of concern, please phone one of our highly trained professionals so we can help you achieve your goals.

How many treatments and how often?

In most cases 1-3 treatments are required. This will vary on the area of the face or body being treated and individual skin conditions and laxity. Follow-up treatments can be safely performed at 6 - 10 week intervals. We offer packages for multiple areas and more than one treatment.

When will I see results and how long will they last?

The positive effects of plasma fibroblast are instant and visible during the first treatment itself. The results will be more noticeable at 12 weeks, with continuing improvement over 12 months with new collagen and elastin continuing to form. Typically, the results from plasma fibroblast will last approximately 2-5 years. The effects will vary due to the individual’s lifestyle and aging process. The effects should last as they would with invasive surgery.

Will there be downtime?

Following the treatment, you can expect swelling, redness and small brown spots known as carbon crusts. These ‘carbon crusts will scab over and usually fall off within 5-10 days on the face & neck and 10-14 days on the body. Swelling usually begins the day following your treatment, and peaks around day 3, after day 3 swelling subsides and itching may occur as the skin starts to heal. We recommend you avoid getting the treated area wet for 48 hours following treatment. It is imperative that you follow the provided aftercare protocol and do not pick at the carbon crusts as this can cause scarring and pigmentation. Please be aware that the days indicated are simply guidelines for average healing time. Healing time and results may be negatively compromised by not following the correct after care protocol.

Is it painful?

The treatment is relatively comfortable however, for a comfortable experience we recommend the use of a topical anaesthetic. You will feel a warm sensation throughout the treatment and mild zaps as the plasma arcs from the applicator tip to the skin. Following the treatment, you will feel a slight sunburn sensation and tightness in the treated area. (Just to make it an extra comfortable experience for you…we have a full body massage mat on the bed!)

Plasma V’s Surgery?

Plasma Fibroblast non-surgical rejuvenation has increased in popularity due to its many advantages over surgery

No incisions - stitches - cutting of the skin

Less invasive – significantly lower cost than surgery

Virtually pain free - quicker treatment times

Less downtime – scar-less healing

Induces collagen – skin cannot be ‘over-lifted’- skin will reach maximum lifting point and stop lifting guaranteeing that only natural excess skin is reduced

Instantly visible - long-lasting - INCREDIBLY NATURAL results

What does the treatment involve?

After the initial consultation and treatment plan, the actual procedure will take 30-60 minutes dependant on the size area to be treated. Is best to arrive with clean skin without any make-up on the treatment area. At each treatment, you will be asked to bring your own local anaesthetic (purchased from any chemist, we recommend emla, numb-it or a compound of 5-7% ……) local anaesthetic will be applied before the treatment to minimise any discomfort. Following the treatment your therapist will give a cooling/protective gel that must be worn 72 hours post treatment. Your therapist will also advice you on thorough pre/post care imperative to this treatment.

Am I a good candidate?

The plasma pen can be used on most skin types; however, a comprehensive consultation is required prior to treatment. As with most cosmetic procedures if you are pregnant or nursing you should avoid this treatment. This treatment is unsuitable for patients with metal implants, severe circulatory or cardiovascular conditions and autoimmune disorders. Plasma fibroblast is not advised for those with very dark skin or anyone with significant sun exposure within 2-4 weeks. This is because there is a higher risk of hyperpigmentation (dark spots) or hypo-pigmentation (light spots) following treatment, particularly if the carbon crust is disturbed by scratching, scrubbing or picking.

Pre/Post care –

  • Do not wax, pluck or use depilatory creams 1 week prior and 2 weeks post treatment
  • Do not use prescription strength exfoliant creams (Retin-A and Alpha Hydroxy) 2 weeks prior/post treatment
  • Avoid tanning, including self-tanning lotions, tanning beds/booths or sun exposure for 4 weeks prior/post treatments
  • A sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher should be used on any area of sun-exposed skin you plan to treat
  • Avoid getting the area wet for the first 48 hours following treatment
  • Avoid the uise of make-up in the area for 48hours, the use of mineral make-up then be applied
  • The use of vitamin A, B, C and Tyrosinase inhibitors are essential to be used in the area 4 weeks prior to having treatment and continuing after for further healing and aging process
